The arrival of Franck Kessie from AC Milan to Barcelona has been an open secret for a while now, with president Joan Laporta confirming the transfer in a recent press conference, as well, along with Andreas Christensen.
It has now been officially announced, too, by the club’s social media channels.
Kessie signs his contract as a free agent for four years with a release clause of €500 million. He underwent his medical in Milan, and will be presented in front of the Tito Vilanova training ground on July 6th after signing his contract.
The Ivorian midfielder ended his tenure with Milan on a high, winning the Serie A ahead of the likes of Inter Milan and Juventus. During the season, he scored six goals in 31 appearances.
Speaking at the end of May to Canal+, Kessie thanked Milan and their fans:
“These have been five very important years where I really committed to the project.
“I am very happy for the city, the club, my fans, the coach, for me and my whole family. It is the last month of my contract here, but in these five years we were able to get back into the Champions League and win the Scudetto.
“I did what I was brought in for and I think this is the best way to say goodbye.”
