Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur could be decimated going into their Europa Conference League game with Rennes after six players and two members of staff tested positive for COVID-19.
The names of those who have tested positive on the lateral flow swabs are not yet known, while Sky Sports News report that Spurs are waiting for the results of PCR tests before confirming quite how many members of the matchday squad have been affected by the Coronavirus.
It’s reported that up to six of the Tottenham first-team players and two members of staff have tested positive for COVID-19.
As there is a 10-day period of self-isolation required for anyone who tests positive for the Coronavirus, it would mean Conte’s players and staff missing three games against Rennes, Brighton and Leicester City.
There is a showdown planned against Liverpool on December 19, too.
However, the outbreak does not mean Thursday’s game with Rennes is in doubt, because the UEFA rules state that a fixture can only be postponed if the team has fewer than 13 players available.
