Sergio Aguero is yet to play for Barcelona, but could have taken a bit of history at the Nou Camp already.
All the talk this summer has been about who will take Sergio Aguero’s iconic No.10 shirt at Manchester City.
The striker left City after 10 seasons, joining Barcelona on a free transfer in the summer. With Lionel Messi the star at the Nou Camp, Aguero was given the no.19 shirt, however injury has restricted him from making his debut so far.
It’s been a turbulent summer at Barca, though, with Messi leaving after his new contract could not be submitted through La Liga’s financial restrictions on the club. With Messi gone, Ansu Fati has taken his No.10 shirt — although Aguero has revealed he rejected the chance to wear it himself.
Speaking to Ibai Llanos on Twitch (via Sport), Aguero confirmed he was offered the chance to wear No.10, but declined.
In a previous Twitch session with Llanos, Gerard Pique had said: “I told Kun to take it it, but he doesn’t like the idea.”
Aguero also compared life at Barcelona to life at City, giving quite a damning assessment of life at the Nou Camp so far, especially when it came to training.
He said: “At City we arrived an hour and a half before training and here half an hour before.
“I said, well, I’ll come in at least an hour before and try and go to the gym or do some things, but nobody was there, it was all shut, dammit.”
Aguero has been doing some individual fitness work at Barcelona in recent days as he looks to step up and return to action before long.
