Kane set to remain at Tottenham for one more season

Harry Kane looks set to stay at Tottenham for one more season, with Manchester City’s hopes of landing the £150m-rated striker this summer all but over.

Reports claims Kane is ‘increasingly likely’ to remain at Spurs for another year as chairman Daniel Levy is said to be ‘digging in’ amid City’s interest.

The report suggest Pep Guardiola’s side have ‘left it too late’ to negotiate a deal for the talismanic forward.

With just over two weeks left of the summer transfer window, it’s said that Kane is ‘likely to commit to Tottenham for at least one more season’.

Levy has consistently stated that Kane is not for sale despite the 28-year-old’s desire to leave the club this summer.

Losing Kane now would leave new boss Nuno Espirito Santo in a difficult situation, with little time available to replace him.

Kane returned to Spurs training on Friday and he is available to play against Man City on Sunday, though his fitness may be an issue.

Kane’s professionalism has been questioned in the last few weeks after he skipped pre-season training.

The England captain put out a statement on social media strenuously denying he was refusing to train in a bid to force through a move.

“It hurts to read some of the comments that have been made this week, questioning my professionalism,” said Kane.

“While I won’t go into the specifics of the situation, I want to clarify that I would never, and have never, refused to train. I will be returning to the club tomorrow (Saturday), as planned.

“I wouldn’t do anything to jeopardise the relationship I have with the fans who’ve given me such unwavering support.”

And Nuno says he’s now held talks with the striker, who is “preparing himself”.

“Harry joined the group today,” Nuno said.

“He trained. We had a talk. Of course it’s a private conversation but everything is OK. He is here with us and preparing himself.”
