Brighton shock Spurs to get first home win

1 min read

Tottenham badly missed Harry Kane as they slumped to a second successive Premier League defeat at Brighton.

Spurs were without their talisman for Sunday’s clash at the Amex Stadium after he injured both ankles in the first half of Thursday’s 3-1 defeat by Liverpool.

Tottenham lacked any sort of attacking impetus without the England captain, with Gareth Bale flattering deceive once again as his second start of the season lasted little over an hour.

Leandro Trossard’s early goal was enough to finally secure a first home league win of the season for Brighton, who move seven points clear of relegation danger.

Tottenham missed the chance to leapfrog rivals West Ham into fifth place in the top-flight as a miserable week was compounded on the south coast.
