Liverpool should not be written off yet – Sherwood

2 min read

Liverpool will still be among the Premier League title contenders come the end of the season, according to Tim Sherwood.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are on a poor run of form of late. Prior to this dip, they were sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League.

They have only won once in their last seven games in all competitions. Their only victory over this stretch was their 4-1 FA Cup win over a young Aston Villa side.

In their last Premier League game, their 68-game unbeaten run at Anfield came to an end at the hands of Burnley.

Liverpool have now lost back to back games as they fell to a 3-2 FA Cup defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Reds are fourth in the table after 19 games. They sit on 34 points and they are now six points adrift of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side at the top.

Speaking on BT Sport, Sherwood reassured Liverpool fans by insisting that it will only be a matter of time before they return to form.

“They have been so high, the standards they have set.

“When you look at it from the outside you think can they keep that going, it must be impossible and this year they have really struggled too.

“I wouldn’t write them off, I think it’s just a matter of time before it all clicks again. But, for Liverpool fans out there, don’t panic. Your team will be right there.

“They’re not at the final bend yet and when it comes down to the last couple of yards I assure them they are going to be there. Liverpool will be amongst it.”
