Manchester City climbed to third in the Premier League with a narrow 1-0 victory over Brighton at the Etihad Stadium.
City took the lead just before half time when Kevin De Bruyne, who had twice been denied by Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, laid on Phil Foden’s eighth goal of the season.
The visitors defended well and carried a threat, but rode their luck when Riyad Mahrez fired wide and Bernardí Silva hit the post early in the second half.
Brighton substitute Neal Maupay could have lobbed Ederson but was denied by John Stones at the last moment as the hosts hung on.
