I am not worried about my Barca future

Bartomeu and the entire board of directors resigned on Tuesday rather than facing a vote of no confidence, which was scheduled for next month.

It was Bartomeu who appointed the Dutchman in the close season, after sacking Quique Setien.

Yet despite a promising start Barca have lost their last two league games and go into Saturday’s meeting with Alaves trailing Real Madrid, who beat their rivals 3-1 last week, by six points.

“I don’t know how it can affect me. It’s not in my hands: I’m working to the best I can in order to try to win trophies. Everything else will have to wait,” Koeman told a news conference.

“There’s talk of change, but I’m not nervous. I’m focused on my job. I know that from now onwards the candidates will talk about their projects, but we’ll see who is the president in the future.”

Koeman also said he had spoken with youngster Ansu Fati about becoming more focused while on the pitch after omitting him from the starting team in Wednesday’s 2-0 Champions League victory away to Juventus.

“I’d advise him to carry on working and improving. I spoke to him yesterday about his focus.

“When he loses the ball it’s due to focus, not because of his quality. He has a lot of talent, with a great future and we need to help him improve and he needs to focus in order to do that.”

Goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has not been included in the squad for the trip to the Basque Country as he continues to recover from knee surgery, while Philippe Coutinho and Samuel Umtiti will also be absent.
