Everton have reportedly contacted Manchester Unnited over a move to sign Sergio Romero before the October 5 transfer deadline. Romero is seemingly surplus to requirements at Old Trafford after the club decided to bring back Dean Henderson from his loan spell.
David de Gea remains the No 1 choice, but Romero has now lost his spot as United’s goalkeeper for cup competitions.
The 33-year-old has been at United since 2015 and has impressed whenever he’s been called upon, holding an impressive record in his five years at the club.
He’s never been able to oust De Gea to become a regular in the team, but Romero is still recognised as a top-class goalkeeper.
Now he’s set to seek a new challenge before the end of the transfer window with United aiming to trim down their squad.
A number of Premier League clubs have been linked with a move for the Argentine shot-stopper.
But Everton may now be leading the race for his signature with Carlo Ancelotti seemingly losing faith in Jordan Pickford.
According to The sun Everton have already made contact with the Red Devils regarding a possible move.
Romero is said to be available for £6million, with Valencia and AC Milan also reportedly interested.
